Peri-Implantitis: Long Term Challenges - A Team Approach

The use of clinical markers to monitor peri-implant tissues is essential
and must be performed in a methodical procedure at all recall
appointments to identify early signs of peri-implantitis. The Dental
Team must have the ability to diagnose peri-implantitis and have the
knowledge to treat simple to moderate peri-implantitis. Both the dentist
and hygienist must monitor the health of dental implants for long term
success.

together in establishing patient compliance for preventive care.

with the treatment becoming reasonable, it is expected to increase. The

Dr. Paul Fletcher graduated from Maryland School of Dentistry and continued his education by completing a 2-year General Practice Residency at Veterans Hospital, Portland Oregon and then pursued a certificate in Periodontics from the Veterans Hospital Medical Center, New York, NY. New York University College of Dentistry. He is an Associate Clinical Professor, Dept. of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry and is a partner at Specialized Dentistry of New York.
