Small Field-of-View CBCT

This course on small field-of-view Cone Beam CT (CBCT) is a didactic and clinical hands-on course that will introduce the participants to the principles of CBCT and its applications in dentistry. Certificates of completion will be provided to dentists who complete this course, including a satisfactory assessment of the knowledge they have gained.

All students are required to have a PC computer and mouse for the hands-on sessions of this course.       
Note: Macs do not work well with the software used.
Speaker Information
Dale Miles, BA, DDS, MS, FRCD(C)
Dr. Miles is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the American Board of Oral Medicine. He has been named one of the “TOP 100 CLINICIANS IN CE” for the last 9 years by Dentistry Today. He has authored over 130 scientific articles and 5 textbooks, including the latest on Cone Beam Imaging. Dr. Miles has been a Consultant to the US Navy Postgraduate Dental School in Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology for over 15 years. He has a web site for teaching dentists and auxiliaries about digital imaging at www.learndigital.net. He is in a full-timepractice of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in Fountain Hills, Arizona. To date he’s read over 10,000 cone beam CT scans for dental clients.

Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The College is a member of the Association for Continuing Dental Education, approved AGD/PACE program 
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations may be done via telephone, fax, email or mail with simply the participant's name and course enrolled. For most courses, cancellations must be received 5 working days prior to the start of a course. Cancellations received after this deadline will result in a 25% penalty. Registration fees will be forfeited for "no-shows". Please allow up to 4-6 weeks for refunds to be processed.
Learning Objectives
The course content will include reviews of:
  • The biological effects of ionizing radiation and radiation dosimetry
  • Patient selection criteria and the radiographic examination
  • Review of normal anatomy in cbCT scans
  • Image interpretation of oral and maxillofacial pathoses including cases
  • Reporting of images
  • Medical legal issues and risk management
 As well, each participant will gain experience in patient positioning and image reconstruction.
